Associate of Science in Nursing

Program Overview

The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program provides  students with the knowledge and skills required for entry into nursing practice.  The focus of the program is to build the personal and professional skills needed to provide outstanding patient care.

As an entry level nurse, graduates are prepared to provide safe care and promote the health and well-being of patients and families. Graduates of the ASN program will acquire the foundation for nursing education and continued professional development. Upon completion of the program, graduates are eligible to apply for the National  Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN).

The ASN curriculum is built upon a foundation that incorporates the  institution’s mission and vision, professional nursing standards and  guidelines, and the nursing faculty’s experiences and beliefs concerning  person, health, environment, nursing, and nursing education.  The program provides course work in a number of areas:

  • Nursing Skills
  • Pediatric Nursing
  • Obstetrical Nursing
  • Psychiatric Nursing
  • Pharmacology
  • Community Health
  • Medical Surgical Nursing

All courses are offered on campus.
